The property is simply stunning, the conversion of a church from the 11th century and no expense was spared. True craftsmanship! Our room was elegant, but comfortable. But far and away what sets this place apart is the incredible staff, lead by Salvatore. He is an absolute gem, eager to help in all ways and eager to make sure you enjoy your stay to the fullest. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary there and it was exactly what we were looking for.\n\nThe Villa is a luxury, boutique hotel with attentive and enthusiastic staff who clearly love and respect this 12th century church that was reconfigured into a stunning small hotel. I believe there are only 6 rooms, and each carries a theme from Greek mythology, with unique furnishings (we were blown away by all the perfectly chosen antiques), playful frescoes, gorgeous floors, and elements from the church - all expertly woven in. \n\nIf you love art, architecture, history, and the most fabulous views of the Tyrrhenian Sea right from your room (!), this place is for you. \nIf you appreciate peace and relaxation, this place is for you.\nIf you enjoy a delicious breakfast, prepared just as you request, this place is for you. \n\nLocated just a short walk (there are stairs) from the main square, the Villa Barluzzi is a perfect jumping off point to explore more of the Amalfi Coast, if that is your desire, or to simply rest and relax (that was our desire). Taking a taxi or bus to neighboring towns is easy -- you do need to walk up or down some external paths and stairs. We saw that as a plus, and not a minus. If you know anything about the small villages and towns that dot the Amalfi Coast, this should not surprise you. They are built into the steep hills and are hundreds of years old, and the inner areas are pedestrian-only. Salvatore, who is the wonderful manager, is happy to suggest activities - whether that's a cruise for fishing, or exploring the Villa Cimbrone gardens (highly recommend). From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like family - he helped on the phone with our taxi driver, he met us at the town centre to help with our (extremelly heavy) bags, gave us a fantastic tour of the accommodation and even a private mini tour around of the town to point out local bars, restaraunts, attractions etc. Salvatore is a hilarious, charming and caring guy - it felt as though we were old friends! The suites are stunning with amazing details throughout. Barluzzi is a converted old church and the photos really do not do it justice. We stayed in Kronos with the full private garden with panaormic views of the coast - the views are seriously breathtaking. Hot tub is also great and always piping hot \ud83d\ude09 Salvatore had known for several weeks I was planning to propose to my partner during the holiday. We had ice cold Prosecco waiting for us - once we had settled in Salvatore snuck me off and took me to the top of the building where the top suite has an amazing private terrace. He noted they could do a surprise breakfast on the roof terrace as the guests were not arriving until several days later. Salvatore, the general manager, along with two wonderful ladies -Tiziana and Flora run this place with so much love. The location is fantastic, the room and terraces are new and luxurious, the view is breathtaking, the breakfasts are plentiful and delicious, and Salvatore, is the most attentive, responsive, cheery, and helpful Host ever! He made our stay that much sweeter. Everything we asked for, Salvatore tackled immediately. He helped us with our luggage, made restaurant reservations, provided directions, politely answered our abundant questions and made sure that we had whatever we desired. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and, before the first night was even over, we were talking about coming back. The concierge was also an incredible help throughout our stay in addition to being one of the most welcoming we\u2019d encountered throughout our honeymoon. We can\u2019t stay enough wonderful things about the property and it\u2019s concierge! If you are wondering whether to stay here, the answer is definitely yes! There is no elevator and there are some stairs to get to the city center; however the concierge provided exceptional service and helped us with our luggage! Sweeping views of the sea from the largest terrace imaginable with a private dining area and separate area with relaxing hot tub. I was traveling alone and chose the the smallest room in the villa but the terrace was more than twice its size. Interiors are fit for royalty. The history of the villa and renovation, completed this year, are fascinating. There are many beautiful places in Italy to stay but to stay in a restored church dating from the eleven hundreds is an experience not to be missed. Salvatore, the manager, has been with the property since before the first guests were welcomed and he left no detail to chance.
